Everything you need before, during and after the 2027 championship - in one place.
This is what you can expect
Disbelief
You don't believe it until you stand there. The boats lie close together on dark water, the cabins glow red and yellow along the quay, and the peaks rise in the background. It is March, the light is low and sharp, and the harbour looks like a painting. Most people who have been here before say the same thing: you don't understand that it is real until you are here. That feeling is why many come back, year after year.
Championship party
A championship party on Friday and Saturday evening, with artists booked for the occasion. The perfect setting to talk about the day's experiences over something good in the glass and good entertainment.
The catch
The day's catch comes in to the fish reception station. The fish is weighed and registered in the championship system, and this is where the day is decided. If you're lucky, you leave with the title of World Champion in Cod Fishing 2027.
Boats
Got a boat and a crew? We are looking for seaworthy boats with experienced skippers to take participants out to the fishing grounds during the championship. More people get to experience skrei fishing in Lofoten - and you become part of the event.
The assignment
Two days during the championship. You provide the boat and crew and take the participants safely out to the fishing grounds and back to land.
Payment
We pay per participant per day for the two days the boat is hired. We organise the participants and everything around the event.
Requirements
The boat must be seaworthy, insured and approved for carrying passengers. The skipper must be able to document their qualifications.
Capacity, meeting time and practical details are agreed with each boat owner before the assignment is confirmed. Safety on board always comes first.
Remember the mandatory skipper meeting at the fish reception, Thon Hotel Svolvær, at 19:00 on Thursday 18 March.

Terms and conditions
By registering you accept these terms.
Registration and payment
Registration is binding. If a participant does not show up, for whatever reason, the entry fee is not refunded. Non-attendance is the participant's own responsibility, and the organiser is not liable for it or for any related costs.
Registration by invoice is only available for larger company bookings, and an invoice fee applies. Contact us by email for more information.
We reserve the right to cancel tickets if the invoice payment deadline is not met, or if unauthorised resale is suspected.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancellations after 1 February and up to the week before the event incur a fee of NOK 1,000 per participant. No refunds are given after that.
When tickets are refunded, the card and transaction fee (2.4% of the amount) is not returned, as it is outside VM i Skreifiske's control.
Cancellation and force majeure
The organiser may cancel, shorten the fishing time, postpone or stop the competition if weather, safety, orders from authorities or other circumstances beyond its control make it unsafe or impossible to proceed. The decision is final.
If the event is cancelled or stopped due to force majeure, the entry fee is not refunded. The organiser is not liable for travel, accommodation, equipment or other costs. A full or partial refund may be granted at the organiser's discretion.
Running the competition
Because of large catches in some years and limited receiving capacity, including for the prize ceremony, the organiser may reduce the fishing time at sea.
The organiser may limit the number of hooks on each line.
Weighed fish not kept by the angler belongs to the organiser.
Uncollected prizes are not sent on.
Boats and skippers
We cannot guarantee that everyone who wishes can be on the same boat, but we do our best with the approved boats available.
Under the boat hire contracts, all boats must be compliant and seaworthy, fitted with VHF and carry rescue equipment for everyone on board. Private boats are responsible for this themselves.
Skippers are responsible for returning all boat number flags to the organiser after the competition. NOK 1,000 is charged per flag not returned.
